From the author: After seeing that it might be a good night for Aurora, I stepped outside to see and there were some bright areas. I drove to a dark spot and started photographing around 1:30am. From the author: Around 4 AM the weather finally was clear and the northern lights were kicking into high gear, probably the best show I have seen in 10 years.
